How to Make a Bahtinov Mask

If you have trouble focusing accurately then you need a Bahtinov mask. This simple device sits on the aperture of your telescope and produces diffraction spikes. Two of the spikes form a cross and the third one moves left or right when the focuser is moved. You are in focus when you make a symmetrical shape. You can download a template for your telescope aperture using this free online website. Once you have the template, cut it out from a piece of cardboard or plastic and place it on your telescope. Bingo, no more focusing problems. For a detailed step by step guide on how to make a Bahtinov mask follow the link.
